About the Artist

Hi! I’m Amanda, a self-taught artist who was born in NY but grew up in Zambia Africa as a missionary kid with two parents, three older sisters, a few dogs, chameleons, turtle, and more imagination than ever. Life was slow and beautiful in the African jungle and I often miss the slow-paced life! My passion has always been with art and to become someone who inspires or lightens someones daily life with illustrations they can relate to or just plain laugh about. I married my best friend Matt, and we now have 3 girls of our own!mattandi Life gets pretty crazy at times for us, but I just see those moments as inspiration for artwork and by sharing it with others it’s a lot more fun. I have been drawing ever since I could hold a crayon but really got into artwork around 9 when someone gave me a Norman Rockwell book. He inspired me with his ability to take a normal everyday situation and beautifully relate it to anyone who looked at it. I guess that’s why He’s called “The Peoples Artist.” I try to bring that to the table as often as I can whether it’s through character designing, concept art, or illustration.

Being a self-taught freelance artist has been an exciting journey, a LOT of trial and error on my part, however, the people who have been following me keep me going (along with the overwhelming desire that I can’t go to sleep without putting a pencil to paper everyday!) I’d love to be a part of a Disney, DreamWorks, Pixar team (Anything like that really.) But our life is pretty nomadic. I don’t think they offer out jobs to people that can’t work in house, so I’ll try my best to create at home for now!
Thanks for sticking around and viewing the website!

Well, hear this goes again(speaking of not being totally with this blog thing 🙂 We headed down to Portland, a bit of a jaunt from the country. Nonetheless the anticipation of laying my hands on SketchBooks drove me well. After pouring over several to no avail, till……………THERE WAS YOU……Amazing, Fantastic, Inspirational, Gifted and TRUE. What a gift you are! Thank You for sharing with US. I took some photo’s to show my kids who as well are super heros at night. Keep drawing and keep your eyes to the sky, there is an eternal super hero who takes pleasure in you.

I am a huge fan of your work! I don’t know what it is, but when I see your drawings…I smile! And I want to see more and more! I love that you have developed a style that is yours. I am just now learning to draw (correctly) and your work inspires me to get better! Thank you!

This is good material. My son-in-law, Michael Greenholt, works at DisneyToon studios and was the animation supervisor for Tinkerbell and the Legend of the NeverBeast. You’re right about the lack of permanence in the animation industry. I’ll keep checking to see samples of your work. Do you have some type of ideal or ultimate project that you would like to do?

Hi Robert! Thank you so much for checking out my site and commenting. 😉 I appreciate it! That’s really cool that he got to work on those films, my girls LOVE the neverbeast one. It’s their favorite! My ultimate goal? I would die happy if I got to create along side brilliant artists and art directors in Disney, or Pixar.. I’d LOVE to be a part of any show they would let me be a part of.

Hi! My name is Phoebe, and I live in Oklahoma. I’m 13 and have been drawing since I was one. I love it! You are are huge inspiration to me! I love the way you draw people, the posture, expression , and movement. It’s amazing.
Do you know Tim Hodge? He’s my uncle.
    P.S , I’m homeschooled, like you were!

Yes! I try to draw everyday! I was wondering, did you go to college? If so, where, and did you like it? If not, why? What did you do instead? B.T.W I’m not criticizing! I’m only in 8th grade but people are already asking me about it. I want to hear opinions from different people! Thank you for reading this! 😊

Wow, It’s nice to hear some of your background . I still don’t know about college. (But I have over 4 years to think it over!) It’s not that I think it’s bad but I want to make the right decision. I don’t want to feel forced to go just because everyone else does. My dream is to be a mom, artists and maybe a local missionary. I’m homeschooled and I hope to do the same for my kids. I’m 13 and it’s a lot to think about! I don’t want to worry about it but I don’t want to neglect the thought ether…
A little bit about me: I live in Tulsa OK, I love drawing, painting, reading, and talking with my best friend. I’m also in the early proses of writing a book. I have a mom and dad, and 3 older brothers ( no sisters).
Thank you again for reading a writing back. It means a lot.

The world says its impossible and then I hear amazing stories like yours! I love your work and I was wondering do you do personalized sketches and if so how much? I would love to have your work in my house it would be an absolute honor!

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear from you!
